Aidan was pulling out of the kayak shop when his phone started ringing. “Where the hell have you been, O’Brien?” Hector’s voice was salty and gruff.

“Sorry, sir. I was out on a kayak. Is something wrong?”

Hector let out a loud exhale. “No, nothing’s wrong. Hatsu invited John and Maria over, I thought you’d like to join us. I called Lieutenant Drake as well. We were thinking about five o’clock if you’re available.”

Aidan was speaking loudly over speaker phone. “Sounds perfect. Can I bring anything?”

“Just yourself, per the wife,” Hector replied.
